Expectation and Hope for Critical Literacy

You have comments and maybe grievances from your seniors about Critical Literacy, but what is/are your expectation (s) or hope for this course as you are started?

First of all, when I asked my seniors regarding this course, their response was somehow, not really positive, because they said that this course is difficult and hard. They said that you need to do tons of work, and the chances of fail this course is high. Well, some of the things they said might be true, but actually, those kind of consequences, in my opinion, happened to almost every courses. Every courses, if you somehow didn’t really struggle yourself, it will become difficult. For me, Critical Literacy is kind of, boring courses, from my first impression, as you need to deal with lots of academic books and stuff. But, as far as I’m taking English Communication, this kind of critical thinking is really important, as we need to know on how to creatively present your idea, rather than just pick it up from the unknown sources from Internet. Also, I’m expecting that by ending this courses, I will be able to improve my way of presenting my idea more confidently. As we have VIVA presentation, I need to have a great stance and justification, in order to convince people to accept my ideas. So, I’m really hope that I will struggle hard enough and score a great result in Critical Literacy

Stereotyping

Stereotyping is exaggerated generalizations associated with a categorizing system they go beyond the facts at hand and make claims that usually have no valid basis. Explain Stereotyping, or in other word, judging people. People who are stereotyping other person, they judged the person in many aspects, such as races, religion, and the obvious one, skin colour. I would say that stereotyping is happening everywhere, no matter where you live, there will be one person, that couldn’t agree with what you have. The reasons on why this ‘stereotyping’ problem occurred, are maybe influenced by family, or friends, hatred, or maybe experience from a certain group of races. First of all, the influences. Maybe they don’t really hate the minority people, who always get judged, but maybe, their family somehow, didn’t want them to be friend with. As far as they grown up, they didn’t experience the real situation on befriend with the minority one, and because of the false information given by the...

Hollywood 'Based On The True Stories'

Proposition: Hollywood produces great movies, but they don’t always tell the truth even it is based on “true stories”. Provide at least two (2) premises AND two (2) counter arguments for the proposition. Write in complete paragraphs. We all like to watch movies, and Hollywood movies are very synonym with the movies industry, as they are the one who are monopolizing the industry. When we sit and watch some of Hollywood movies, we will see during the intro credit of the movies, the phrase “based on the true stories’. The question is, was the ‘true stories’ really the true stories, and not the fictional one, created by the producer? To be honest, I am kind of distrust, when I see this phrase, because how can they know about the personal problem of the characters, without adding their own information. For instance, the story from the TV series called ‘I Am a Killer’ by Netflix. How could possibly they re-enact the scene of the criminal’s life, using their own actors or actress...

PUTRAJAYA : Most parents who refuse to vaccinate their children are those who live in the cities and are highly educated, said Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam today. “The ministry has detected nearly 1,600 children who did not get vaccinated last year and this figure is increasing every year”. By Bernama – July 28,2017 @ 11.37 pm Why do you think this is happening, what are the arguments for the refuse of vaccination? Most parents, they said that they care about their children, but they somehow refuse to take precautions step, one of them is vaccination. First of all, vaccination is a treatment with a medicine, called vaccine in order to produce immunity against a disease. But, most parents, they think that vaccination is dangerous for their children, as the doctors are using syringe, and they also think that the vaccination is useless, since that they think that they could easily bring their children to the hospital or just purchase the medicine from the p...
