Stereotyping is exaggerated
generalizations associated with a categorizing system they go beyond the facts
at hand and make claims that usually have no valid basis. Explain
Stereotyping, or in other word, judging people. People who are
stereotyping other person, they judged the person in many aspects, such as
races, religion, and the obvious one, skin colour. I would say that
stereotyping is happening everywhere, no matter where you live, there will be
one person, that couldn’t agree with what you have. The reasons on why this ‘stereotyping’
problem occurred, are maybe influenced by family, or friends, hatred, or maybe
experience from a certain group of races. First of all, the influences. Maybe
they don’t really hate the minority people, who always get judged, but maybe,
their family somehow, didn’t want them to be friend with. As far as they grown
up, they didn’t experience the real situation on befriend with the minority one,
and because of the false information given by the family and friends, the
hatred will be born due to the fact that they should not be even close to the
people who get stereotyped. For example, Malays somehow are a bit racist
towards Chinese and Indian, due to the fact that they are majority population.
Also, they heard the false rumours, saying that Chinese and Indian are the
worst when it comes to attitude and hygiene matters. This kind of false
information will lead to stereotype and because of stereotype, unification among
other races will not occur. Next, experience for a certain group of races.
Maybe some of us have experience, like getting bullied by a group of Indian,
for example. But, that doesn’t mean that all Indians are behaving like that. We
cannot simply say that all Indian like that, because it is unfair. There are some
Indian who are really nice, and there are also some Malays that not really nice
as we think. So, in order to erase this kind of perception, or stereotyping
problem, we need to have a good impression towards other people, so that people
will respect us, because we simply accept them the way that we are.
